Blessed Brighid , I watched the news today. An elderly 89 year old woman was beaten down to the ground, mugged and left for dead. Her face was bruised, her head wrapped in bandages. Still she smiled and said that she wasn't going to fear, for then the ones who did that to her would have won. I was reminded of my own grandma,sweet and tough.I couldn't stop the tears. How can we as a society do this to our elders? Mother, I just don't understand.I ask you to bring compassion to the heart of the one who did this, so that he won't ever do this again. I ask you to bring compassion to the hearts of others who may be thinking of committing such a terrible crime. May you help them to turn back before it is too late.Bless our elders.
